The mystery of the absent Morgan County commissioner deepens.
WLDS-WEAI news reported Friday Michael Woods took a job in January at Fort Hayes State University in Kansas as chair of the agriculture department.
Morgan County board chairman Mike Wankel and commissioner Donnie Wood said this morning they have been trying to reach him, but have had no luck.
Dr Woods last attended a regular meeting in person May 11th, and attended the meeting May 27th by telephone.
Our attempts to reach him have also been unsuccessful. A receptionist in his office in Kansas says Dr Woods is in China on a trip until a week from today.
Morgan County state’s attorney Gray Noll says there is a residency requirement for county commissioners. The requirement is maintaining a residence in Morgan County.
Woods was appointed to replace the retired Brad Zeller. Woods is the democrat candidate for the Morgan County board in November. He is opposed on the ballot by republican Greg Hacker.
