Flooding Threat Increases

The threat of flooding along the Illinois River has picked up since late last week.

The National Weather Service issued the flood warning at 5 yesterday morning.

The flooding was fueled by over 4 inches of rain that fell in west central Illinois.

The river stage as of 7:45 last night, was 15-point 8 feet. Flood stage is at 14 feet.

The river is now expected to rise to 18-point-4 feet by Friday, barring any substantial rain between now and Friday.

At 18 feet, seepage problems being in the Lost Creek Drainage and Levee District.

Showers are in the forecast for tomorrow morning, and storms in Wednesday’s forecast.
