A Morgan County commissioner says his relatively new job at an out of state college will not affect his position on the Morgan County board.
Dr Michael Woods responded to an e mail from the Jacksonville Journal Courier.
Dr Woods is currently in China for an agriculture conference, and will return to the US this weekend.
Woods took a position as the head of the ag department at Fort Hays State University in Kansas in January.
Woods responded to our requests with an e mail showing he had e mailed county board chairman Mike Wankel, and commissioner Donnie Wood, telling them he was in China, and would only be able to attend the meeting on the 8th by telephone, if it were possible. He also asked to have on the agenda in the July meeting his proposal for data center reviews.
Woods last attended a regular meeting of the board in person May 11th, and attended the meeting May 27th by telephone. He was absent at the meeting June 8th. Woods has attended every other county board meeting since the start of the year
Both of the other commissioners, Wankel and Wood told the Jacksonville Journal Courier Woods is apparently still a resident of Morgan County. He is running as a democrat candidate for the Morgan County board this fall.
The next meeting of the Morgan County board is Monday.
