A retired Jacksonville school superintendent made his initial appearance in Morgan County court this morning on a charge of child pornography possession.
88-year-old Robert Crowe of Justin Drive was arrested in April by state police for separate counts of dissemination and possession of child sexual abuse material.
Crowe is formally charged with one count of possession of child pornography. His first appearance this morning will be followed June 30th with a preliminary hearing.
The charge is a class 2 felony with a sentencing range of up to 4 years probation, or 3 to 7 years in the Illinois department of corrections.
The count also carries a maximum fine of $100-thousand.
State police special agents started the investigation in October of last year, after learning Crowe was in possession or an disseminating the material.
Crowe remains free on bond.
