Illinois River Flooding More of a Threat

The flood threat along the Illinois River is growing more serious.

A river flood warning is still in place from the National Weather Service.

The latest measurement from last night is 16-point-2 feet at Meredosia, and 18 feet at Beardstown. Flood stage is 17 feet at Meredosia, and 14 feet at Beardstown..

The National Weather Service now says the crest is expected to rise to 19 point 9 feet by early Tuesday morning.

At 20 feet, seepage problems begin in the South Beardstown Drainage and levee district.

And, more rain is expected Sunday. The forecast says this area could get anywhere from 1 to 2 inches before Monday morning.
