There will be panel discussion tonight on East State in conjunction with the Juneteenth celebration in Jacksonville.
It begins at 6 at Centenary United Methodist Church.
Jacksonville museum director Tori Ohl says a distinguished local panel will join her to talk the Underground Railroad.
The panel includes Dr Brittany Yancey and Ruth Linear.
This year marks the 161st anniversary of the day that black people in Texas were granted their freedom.
Ohl says the group tonight will talk about how to stress the importance of the event through various ways.
She says social media creates another avenue for those wanting to share the Underground Railroad story.
Ohl says the museum will open after the discussion is over about 7, and remain open for about an hour tonight.
The museum’s normal hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and afternoon on Sundays.
