Hospital Sisters Health System has named the first Chief Administrative Officer for HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital in Springfield.
Aryn Hunter will assume the newly created leadership position on July 19. She will oversee nursing, hospital operations and other organizational functions for the Children’s Hospital.
Hunter currently serves as Chief Administrative Officer at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, where she has led expansion of cancer care services and recruitment of additional surgical specialists. She previously served as the hospital’s Director of Operations and has held several leadership roles within HSHS, including education manager, emergency preparedness coordinator and infection preventionist.
HSHS Central Illinois Market President and CEO Brian Brennan says the Children’s Hospital serves families across a 90-mile radius and that creating the position reflects the health system’s commitment to expanding pediatric services throughout central Illinois.
Hunter brings more than 20 years of clinical and operational healthcare experience. Before moving into hospital administration, she worked as an intensive care and emergency department nurse, a critical care flight nurse, and a research coordinator at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
HSHS says it has begun recruiting a permanent replacement for Hunter’s position at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
