The Jacksonville city council will handle a couple of rezoning matters, and welcome a new chief of detectives for city police tonight.
The council will be asked to rezone property at 469 South Clay from residential to business.
The other rezoning request is being questioned by nearby residents. Residents of Prairie Knolls on Blacks Lane have raised questions about a solar field proposed from the railroad tracks to just north of Morton Avenue.
The plan commission recommended approval earlier this month.
Aldermen are expected to welcome Luke Poore as a new chief of detectives for city police. Poore replaces Kyle Chumley, who has become one of the deputy police chiefs in Jacksonville.
And, a new contract with city hall employees will be offered for a vote.
The workshop meeting starts at 6, with the regular meeting to follow at city hall.
