Commissioners Clash over Agenda

Voices were raised as two commissioners clashed on an agenda request at this morning’s Morgan County board meeting.

Commissioner Michael Woods cited procedures and Roberts Rules of order in his request to include the agenda item, “other business.”

Chairman Mike Wankel took issue when Woods brought up the request several times, as Wankel attempted to follow the printed agenda.

Woods says the ordinance clearly states the term other business must be on the agenda, and he insinuated he hasn’t been able to bring up items in the past because there was no place for for them

Woods claims the ordinance requires other business to be listed on all agendas.

Wankel claimed other business should be included in the staff and consultant reports portion of the agenda. But, he agreed to have Morgan County state’s attorney Gray Noll look into the matter.

Woods also offered an update on the Home Repair and Accessibility Program, or HRAPP. The program provides monies to low income people wanting to make repairs to their homes.

He said one project is out for bids, and five other projects that are actively accepting bids.

The board also adopted the prevailing wage rate, an annual requirement for government bodies.
