Franklin village officials have updated bill collection laws there effective next month.

In a Facebook post, Franklin officials say the village is carrying thousands of dollars in unpaid and partially paid utility bills.

These bills include water, sewer and gas.

The release indicates the bills will be sent out by the 10th, and residents have until the 25th to pay the bill without a finance charge. That charge goes on the bill on the 26th.

Village officials will send out door knockers on the first of the following month.

Utilities will be shut off on the 9th on unpaid bills, and the full amount plus a $75 turn on fee must be paid before the utilities are restored.

The board says this policy will take effect August 1st, and September 9th will be the first shut offs on delinquent bills.
