Four people were injured in a two vehicle accident Friday night shortly before 8 on US 54 about 1 mile east of Atlas on Atlas Hill in Pike County.
Pike County sheriff David Greenwood says the accident involved a semi tractor trailer unit and a passenger vehicle.
Greenwood identified the driver of the passenger vehicle as Jaimie Rhode of Griggsville. There were two unidentified passengers in the vehicle. The driver of the semi was identified as Michael Richardson of Robstown, Texas.
Greenwood says Rhode and his two passengers were taken by ambulance to other hospitals because weather conditions prevented the medical helicopters from flying. Richardson was treated at Illini Community Hospital.
Greenwood says Rhode crossed over the center line, and struck the front driver’s side corner of the semi.
The accident remains under investigation.
