Greene County rescue workers were able to free a man who became pinned by a mower near a pond on the evening of September 28 in a rural portion of the county.

The Jacksonville Journal-Courier reports that first responders were called to a property in the 300 block of Northeast 600th Street between Berdan and Wrights for a man pinned underneath of a mower and unable to get free. Greene County Sheriff Rob McMillen told the paper that the man had gotten near the edge of the pond, causing the mower to slide into the water around 6:20 p.m.

McMillen says the man was not submerged in the water but couldn’t free himself and was able to use a cell phone to call for help. The Carrollton Fire Department and Greene County EMS responded to the scene.

According to the report from McMillen, the man did not suffer any life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.
