The man in charge of tomorrow night’s fireworks for the Jacksonville 4th of July celebration at Nichols Park is hopeful Mother Nature will cooperate.
Fred Blanford has been involved with the city fireworks display for 26 years.
The fireworks will begin sometime between 8:30 and 9 tomorrow night.
And, Blanford says more bucks this year means more of a bang.
The bi centennial committee for the city of Jacksonville provided funding they had to up the budget this year.
Blanford says he’s been digging around to find things that haven’t been used here before.
Blanford says new displays will be featured at the start, middle and end of the evening.
Jacksonville fire chief Matt Summers and Blanford will make the call for tomorrow night. Right now, the weather could include scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Blanford says the rain isn’t as much of an issue as lightning. He expects the call will be made by 7 or 8 tomorrow night.
