Weather Related Closings

Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and IDOT are reporting the Brussels Ferry and Kampsville Ferry are closed due to ice in the rivers. There is no estimated time of when the ferry will reopen for travel.
Anyone entering or leaving Calhoun County is asked to use the Joe Page Bridge in Hardin.

North Greene Jr. High/High School has cancelled all practices scheduled for Friday due to the subzero temperatures and frigid wind chill.

Sangamon County has lifted a Level 1 Winter Weather Emergency.

The Jacksonville Congregational Church – United Church of Christ located 520 West College Avenue is cancelling their Christmas Eve service and their Sack Lunch Meal on Saturday, Dec. 24th due to the inclement weather.

The David Strawn Art Gallery in Jacksonville is closed today.

The Jacksonville Public Library will be closing at 3PM today.

Memorial Health primary care locations will be closed on Friday, Dec. 23. This  includes:

Memorial Home Medical Supply in Jacksonville
Memorial Wellness Center in Springfield

Springfield Clinic patients can call TeleNurse at 217.528.7541. Appointment cancellations can be made through the myhealth@SC patient portal. The message will go directly to the provider’s office.

The Pike County Health Dept’s Immunization Clinic will will reopen for normal operations on Jan. 5.

The Morgan County Health Department will be closed Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26th in observance of the Christmas holiday. Services will resume on Tuesday, December 27th.

Cass County Health Department closed Friday.

Mt. Sterling and Rushville City Halls are both closed today.

Schuyler County Health Department office & McDonough County Health Department will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, Dec. 27th.

In anticipation of inclement weather, all outlying Boyd Healthcare Services clinics will be closed on Friday, December 23rd. The outlying clinics will also be closed on Monday, December 26th in observance of Christmas. The Carrollton Rural Health Clinic (located inside Boyd Memorial Hospital) will be operate under the following hours:
Friday, December 23rd: 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, December 24th: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, December 25th: Closed
Monday, December 26th: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

GFL Environmental Trash Pick up for tomorrow and Saturday has been cancelled. There will be a double pick up next Friday.

Mt. Sterling City Hall will be closed Dec 23 and 26 for Christmas holiday opening reopening on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 8 AM. In the event of a water emergency, call 217/773-3961

Rushville City Hall will be closed Friday, December 23rd & Monday, December 26th for the Christmas holiday. If you have an emergency, please contact the Superintendent of Operations, Nate Campbell at (217) 322-7550. The office will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27th.

Flash Flood Watch

Portions of the listening area are under a flash flood watch this morning.The National Weather Service in Lincoln reports a system producing heavy, rapid rainfall may result in pop up flash flooding across portions of Schuyler, Cass, Menard, Scott, Morgan, and Sangamon Counties this morning.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to move across the region Locally heavy rain is possible, which could lead to flash flooding. The stronger thunderstorms could have isolated damaging wind gusts.
The flash flood watch will remain in effect until 10 o’clock this morning. Please turn around and don’t drowned. Report any flooded out roadways to local law enforcement immediately.

Weather Related Cancellations

The races at the Jacksonville Speedway for tonight have been cancelled due to flooding.

The JHS Basketball/Football Golf Outing scheduled for Saturday has been postponed until Saturday, July 23.

Closings & Cancellations For Feb. 24

Due to the incoming winter storm and current slick road conditions, the Pike County Health Department has cancelled its schedule Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic for today (Feb. 24) from 1:30-4:30PM.

Greenfield Community Unit School District No. 10 will be closing at 1:00pm today.

Griggsville-Perry Community Unit District No. 4 will be closing at 12:30PM today.

Jacksonville School District 117 will release JHS students at 11:50. Busing will begin for both JHS and JMS students at 12:30. Pre-K and Elementary Schools will dismiss at 1:30.

North Greene Jr. High Volleyball Scheduled at St. Francis this evening has been canceled.

North Mac Schools will dismiss at 1:30PM today.

Northwestern Community Unit District No. 2 will be closing at 1:00pm today.

Pikeland Elementary Schools’ Volleyball game at Barry Western tonight has been canceled.

GFL/Area Disposal has called off operations for trash and recycling collection Wednesday. Pickup will be delayed one day for the rest of the week.

Bread of Love and Doorbell Dinners will not be delivered Wednesday or Thursday

Jacksonville Memorial Hospital Drive-Thru Lab Closed Friday, Feb. 4

The Walking for Wellness program at the JHS Bowl is cancelled Friday.

Springfield Clinic Jacksonville MOHA opening at 9 a.m.
TeleNurse is available. If you need to cancel your appointment, you can cancel through the myhealth@SC patient portal. The message will go directly to your provider’s office. 

The McDonough Co. Health Dept. is also canceling the weekly COVID-19 vaccination clinic that was scheduled to take place at the old Farm King location this week.

Republic Services will not be running trash routes and pick-up in New Berlin Wednesday or Thursday

The Pike County Health Department is closed and cancelling the Community COVID testing and COVID vaccination clinics for Thursday due to inclement weather.

The Farmers State Bank & Trust Co. will have limited hours today. The drive-through lanes will be open at the downtown location from 10 am to 2 pm. Many services including lobby service will be limited.

Crimestoppers Trivia Night Postponed

The Morgan-Scott-Cass Crime Stoppers Trivia Night scheduled for tonight at Bogart’s at 7PM has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The Trivia Night has been moved to Saturday, February 5th at 7PM at Bogarts.

Kampsville Ferry Closed

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Jan. 7 that the Kampsville Ferry is closed. The closure is due to significant ice buildup in the Illinois River. It will remain closed until enough ice melts to make crossing safe.
Please consider using the Joe Page Bridge in Hardin or the Brussels Ferry.

Icy Road Conditions Along I-72 Corridor

The Illinois Department of Transportation is showing that most of the I-72 corridor west of Springfield as having roads that are partly covered by ice & snow this evening. Route 24 from the Adams County line east into Brown, Schuyler, Mason, and Fulton counties show roads fully covered with ice and snow. Motorists are being advised to use caution and avoid travel if they can. Motorists can check Getting Around Illinois for the most updated winter weather conditions on Illinois highways. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the WLDS/WEAI listening area until 6AM Sunday, January 2. Snowfall is expected to reach 2 to 5 inches in total, with up to 0.20 inches of sleet and freezing rain. Precipitation will change to all snow tonight. Wind chills of 0 to 10 below zero are likely tonight into Sunday morning as the coldest air of the season so far arrives. Wind chills of 0 to 10 degrees below zero are possible through Monday morning.
