A manhole project beginning on Feb. 26 at the intersection of West State and Webster will cause traffic changes to the intersection for the week of Feb. 26 through Mar. 1. Southbound Webster will be open for through traffic only from Lafayette Ave. to West State West State Street will be closed at Webster.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a 5-mile resurfacing and maintenance project on Illinois Route 78 in Morgan County, from the Cass County line south to Snake Creek, begins Monday, Feb. 19.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane at times and maintained using temporary signals, flaggers, cones and message boards. In addition to the resurfacing, other improvements include replacing guardrail, addressing drainage issues, shoulder maintenance, stabilizing retaining walls and tree removal. Benefits for the motorists include increasing ride comfort and extending the life of the road. This project is scheduled to be completed in mid-November.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.

Due to the collapse of a storm sewer and manhole, the intersection of North Main
Street and Walnut Street will be closed beginning Monday February 5, 2024 at
7 a.m. through Monday February 12, 2024. This will allow our crews to work
safely to fill the void under the road as well as replace and repair the storm sewer
and manhole. Everyone will need to find an alternate route during this week.

One westbound lane of traffic on Old Jacksonville Road will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 29th between Wakefield Dr to South Koke Mill Road for utility pole replacement. The closure is expected to be in place until sometime that evening. Motorists are asked to plan an alternative route.

The Illinois State Police and Illinois Department of Transportation have announced that the Florence Bridge on Illinois Route 106 between Pike and Scott counties has been reopened.

Construction on Rte 125 from Bluff Springs to Virginia begins today. Drivers are asked to take an alternate route or allow extra time for travel delays.

Vandalia from South Main St. going east for one block will be closed for the remainder of the week due to sink hole repairs.

The Morgan County Highway Department has announced Harts Prairie Road will be closed 1 mile south of Highway 104 beginning at 8 AM on Tuesday, Aug. 8 until noon on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the closure of I-72 westbound lanes from mile marker 10 with traffic detoured to mile marker 1 for highway repairs due to a pavement failure at mile marker 8.
This will not affect westbound traffic entering I-72 at the I-172 interchange at mile marker 4. Work is expected to occur Friday, July 21. Detour using Illinois Route 96 and 106 will be in place and will reopen on Saturday, July 22.

Beginning at 8 AM Wednesday July 19th Nortonville Road will be closed 2.6 miles west of highway 111, between Rhea La and Mieher Road. The road will reopen by 4 PM on Thursday, July 20th.
