Training on the newest equipment for the Jacksonville fire department begins today.
Jacksonville has received the new, 2026 100 foot ladder truck from Wisconsin.
Jacksonville fire chief Matt Summers says the learning process starts today.
He says instructors from Pierce Trucks in Wisconsin will be in Jacksonville training local officers over the next three days.
Summer says there will be an open house next Monday to show off the truck. He says this doesn’t happen all that often.
He says the ladder trucks are purchased once every 20 to 25 years, so this is a big event.
Summers says the process to buy it began about 4 years ago.
The open house will begin Monday afternoon at 4:30 at Jacksonville city hall. Refreshments will be served. The commissioning ceremony starts about 5:15.
He says there is limited space for the open house.
