The Jacksonville Salvation Army will begin training crews to survey the homeless this week.
Salvation Army Captain Justian Corliss has been quietly working behind the scenes with others to help find a solution to the homeless problem in Jacksonville.
He believes it’s vital to find out the needs of the homeless, and how they arrived at this point in their lives.
Corliss says the surveys will be a year long process.
He says the training will start now.
He says the teams will feature four people, who will conduct the surveys 2 or 3 times a month for a year.
Corliss says the crews will be kept busy during the year.
Corliss says they can use all the help they can get.
Corliss says those who have expressed an interest in being on the survey crews, or who would like to volunteer is urged to call Corliss at the Salvation Army Citadel at 217-245-7124.
