The MacMurray Foundation and Alumni Association is launching its second year of competitive grant funding, with applications opening July 1st for educational and community improvement projects.
The Foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 to not-for-profit organizations and school districts that continue MacMurray College’s legacy of supporting education and strengthening local communities.
Foundation leaders are especially encouraging applications for educational grants after receiving few proposals in that category during the program’s inaugural year. Those grants are designed to help schools and nonprofit organizations enhance educational programs for students.
Community Project Grants will also be available for nonprofit organizations seeking funding to create or improve projects that benefit their communities.
Foundation Board Chair David Ekin says making grants was one of the organization’s goals when it was established in 2020 and, despite limited funding, the program helps fulfill the Foundation’s mission of continuing MacMurray College’s legacy. He says the organization hopes donor support will allow the grant fund to grow over time.
Grants Committee Chair Jane Freiburg Nickerson says the Foundation is looking for innovative proposals that will make a meaningful difference in educational settings and local communities.
Applications will be accepted through October 31st. Organizations interested in applying can find grant information and application materials by visiting MacAlumFoundation.org and selecting the Grants section on the homepage.
Those wishing to support the Foundation’s grant program can also make donations through the website or by mailing a contribution to the MacMurray Foundation and Alumni Association.
