A familiar Meredosia landmark could soon be serving ice cream again.

Dustin and Leslie Cowick announced Saturday that they have purchased the property formerly home to the Dosh Dari Delite, with plans to renovate the site and bring it back into operation. The property had sat idle for several years. “Over the next few months Leslie and myself will be doing some remodeling, bringing this piece of Dosh history and memories back to life. Looking forward to helping your kid’s get a sugar rush, all while you drink some coffee and try to keep up with them,” Dustin said on social media Saturday.

The Cowicks say they envision a simple menu featuring ice cream, small food options and coffee. Renovations are planned for the property, including the iconic drive-thru and short-order area, with the goal of reopening at a later date.

The Dosh Dari Delite name dates back to the 1970s, after the property was purchased by the late Henry “Joe” Smith. Before that, the location operated as the Kistner Kreme Kist, although the date that business opened is not known.

The Cowicks have not announced a specific reopening date, but say they are looking forward to bringing ice cream and food service back to the Meredosia location.
