A homeless man was arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed a house on North Main yesterday morning.

Firemen responded to the fire at 731 North Main. The house is owned by Morgan County Housing Authority. The house is abandoned, and there are plans to raze it and replace it with apartments for the low income.

Firemen responded about 6:30, and remained on the scene for 3 to 4 hours. The house was listed as a total loss.

Firemen say the blaze was traced back to someone burning wood on the floor of the garage, and the fire spread to the house, which was gutted.

Police arrested 30-year-old Daniel Jensen for criminal trespass to state supported property.

He was ordered to appear in court and released. A couple of firemen suffered minor burns.

The fire remains under investigation.
