A panel discussion on the Underground Railroad will be held in Jacksonville in conjunction with the Juneteenth celebration this month.
The discussion is free and open to the public. It will be held Friday, June 19th at Centenary United Methodist Church on East State.
The event is being held in conjunction with the Journey to Freedom:Illinois’ Underground Railroad exhibit at the Jacksonville Area Museum.
Speakers include Dr Brian Mitchell from the UIS, Dr Brittany Yancy of Illinois College, Kathryn Harris, former director of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, and local historian Ruth Linear.
The exhibit at the Jacksonville Area Museum can be seen from 10 AM to 4 PM Wednesdays and Saturdays, and 1 to 4 on Sundays.
