Pike County deputies have arrested a homeless man in connection with the alleged criminal sexual assault of a child under 13.

The man has been identified as 36-year-old Jack Green, described as homeless.

Chief deputy Zach Orr began the investigation August 5th, after getting a report of a sexual offense against a child under 13.

The investigation identified Green as a suspect. Orr says an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday of this past week, and Green was found in Mount Vernon.

Green is charged in thee warrant with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under 13, both Class X felonies.

Green appeared in court Thursday, and was ordered detained by Judge J Frank McCartney. At the time of his arrest, court records show he was on pretrial release from Greene County for meth possession, and unlawful use of a debit, or credit card.

Green remains at the Pike County Jail.

Orr says his department received help from Roodhouse, Carrollton and White Hall police, Greene County deputies, Mount Vernon police, the Pike County Child Advocacy Center, and Unified Child Advocacy Network in Jerseyville.
