Pike County has been able to re-establish its drug court.
Pike County probation drug court coordinator Brittany Taylor says the court was discontinued in 2017, after it was selected as a pilot site in 2003.
But, the program ended after the loss of a local treatment provider.
Taylor says local stakeholders recognized the impact that substance abuse has on people and their families, and worked to bring it back.
Pike County Drug Court received conditional certification from the state September last year, followed by full certification June 10th.
The program is working in partnership with Clarity Healthcare. Taylor says Clarity established a local intensive outpatient treatment program within the county.
Taylor says the probation department has worked with the judges, state’s attorney’s office, the public defender’s office, law enforcement and treatment providers.
