A former Jacksonville chiropractor has been sentenced to prison in federal court for health care fraud.
The Illinois attorney General’s office says 56-year-old Sean Rondeau was given a year and a day in prison in US District Court yesterday.
A federal grand jury returned a super ceding indictment against Rondeau in August of 2024, and he pleaded guilty to all nine counts last December.
He is accused of defrauding health insurance companies of more than a quarter million dollars.
The counts included three counts of mail fraud and five counts of wire fraud, to go along with the healthcare fraud.
US District Judge Colleen Lawless noted at the hearing Rondeau committed these crimes after he had previously been caught committing fraud more than a decade ago.
The US attorney’s office presented evidence that Rondeau had submitted more than 2-thousand separate fraudulent claims in this latest case.
