Jacksonville city officials are seeking a sizable grant through the state to help low to moderate income residents make repairs to their homes.
These projects would be for owner occupied, income qualified residents.
Jacksonville community development director Brian Nyberg says this would be a new program for the city.
He says the grant could be worth $850-thousand, and coupled with another grant program for $350-thousand, it would boost the possibilities for the city to get over $1-million.
Nyberg says the city needs any eligible residents to fill out the survey to enhance the city’s chances for the grant money.
He says completing the survey doesn’t commit homeowners to a project, but allows the city to seek the grant.
Nyberg says the more the number of qualified applicants, the better chance the city has to get the community development block grant money.
