Big crowds are expected at the fireworks display for the Jacksonville Fourth of July celebration tomorrow night.
There will be traffic changes to improve traffic flow, including the closure of Vandalia Road.
South Jacksonville detective sergeant Brian Wilson urges people to be patient.
He says no parking will be allowed on East Vandalia from South Main to east of the railroad tracks.
Northbound lanes from Vandalia to Chilton, South East, South West, and South Main will be open at the end of the fireworks.
Wilson says officers will be there to make sure it’s a safe 4th.
He says at the end of the fireworks, East Vandalia will become two lanes with all traffic westbound. There will be no eastbound traffic. And, South Main from East Vandalia will need to exit either north or south on Main. No cross traffic will be allowed.
Pedestrian traffic only will be allowed on Hardin and Lakeview Terrace from 9 to 11 Saturday night.
